Steve Jobs – the perfect inspiration for obtaining a dance teaching qualification

Steve Jobs the Perfect inspiration for obtaining a dance teaching qualification.

Today is a sad day. Unfortunately the world has lost a phenomenal individual. Someone who worked hard to achieve what he believed in and as a result changed to the way we live!

There is a Steve Jobs in each and every one of us! We all have the capacity to use what we are passionate about to change the world and improve the lives of others. Through running a dance business I feel that I can inspire children to achieve their dreams, build confidence, raise their self-esteem and develop skills that will help them throughout their lives.

A Dance Teaching Qualification Can Help You and Your Community

Offering dancers like you the opportunity to receive affordable dance teacher training which can lead to you setting up a dance business of your own or developing professionally through further IDTA exams and raising your credibility within the dance world allows me to achieve fulfilment; through helping you to realise your dreams and make them reality. How fantastic would it be for you to use your talent in dance and love for sharing your creativity and choreography to gain a teaching qualification that will give you the potential to change the world just like Steve Jobs has done with apple.

The two day intensive IDTA associate course is how I began my journey in to creating and growing a dance business. I now would love to hear about your dance dreams and aspirations and help you achieve them!

I will leave you with a quote from the great Steve Jobs himself:

‎”Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

Street dance teacher training

It does exist, over the past few years – perhaps due to the rise in popularity of shows like Britain’s Got Talent – street dance is well and truly on the map.

Street dance took to the Westend stage, street dance group Diversity Won the most popular talent show in the UK and the unfortunate and very sad passing of Michael Jackson put dance well and truly back into the world’s spotlight!

We’ve had street dance the movie and the annual release of a dance flick is now very much the norm.

So is it any wonder that boys and girls up and down the country all want to learn to street dance? According to a recent Government survey in the UK dance is one the 2nd most popular physical activity after football amongst 12-14 year olds.

With so many children now so eager to learn to street dance we are in need of quality street dance teachers who are suitably qualified and follow safe practice when teaching children and young people.

Street dance teacher qualifications are available

There is street dance teacher qualification! Despite what dancers may think! It makes sense there has to be if so many children want to learn to dance.

The IDTA dance teacher training which teachdance offer is particularly tailored to you becoming a fully qualified street dance teacher. Many dancers do not see the point in gaining formal qualifications as many are able to get dance teaching jobs in London and many big Cities across the UK. However, times are changing. Qualified dance teachers already earn more than those who are unqualified. In the VERY near future you will not just be able to claim you are a ‘street dance teacher’. Employers will want you to have had some ‘street dance teacher training’ and produce a recognised street dance teaching certificate to back up your claim. After all you wouldnt go to a Doctor who had no formal medical training but said they knew what they were doing or parents wouldn’t send their children to a school where the teachers didn’t have a qualification so this is no different.

Opening a Dance School – How Dance Teacher Training can Help You

Opening any business can be a daunting experience! But it is so worthwhile when you are able to turn your passion into your living. That’s what I was able to do four years ago and it was the best thing I ever did. It gave me freedom from the 9-5. I am my own Boss and only answer to myself!

It is of course hard work! But I love it. It started with a street dance school in London. One dance school in Forest Hill in South London has blossomed into a company with four dance schools across London and being able to allow thousands of children to access dance of all genres.

It all Started with a Dance Exam

I couldn’t have come so far in my business and began to achieve things that for some are just a dream without gaining professional dance teacher training. I do not teach now but in the beginning I had to it was that dance teacher training that gave me the confidence and the skills to set up my own street dance classes for children in South London which developed into the popular dance school it is today.

Gaining a dance teaching qualification has also enabled me to create another income stream besides classes in my business as J’s Dance Factory is able to offer IDTA exams to all of the students.

So…you can dance your way to freedom! Get out of the 9-5 and start to live out your dreams by opening your own dance school wherever you are in the world. Just remember it all begins with gaining a dance teaching qualification. So what are you waiting for?

IDTA Exams – the best way to become a dance teacher in London

Since launching Teachdance I’ve had the pleasure of discussing dance teacher training with several of you who want to become a dance teacher.

There seems to be a pattern in the fact that a number of dancers are confused about which dance teaching qualifications to take? Which ones are recognised by schools? And probably the most popular question – which dance teaching qualifications allow you to enter children for amateur IDTA (International Dance Teacher Association) exams?

When I was deciding which dance teaching qualification to take, it was a pretty simple choice as there was only one around. However there are now so many London dance teacher training companies claiming to offer ‘recognised’ dance teacher qualifications? No wonder it is hard for you to decide which one is right for you.

It is now the third week back at J’s Dance Factory (the dance school). The dance teachers are busy preparing the students for their IDTA exams. These are a series of amateur exams that children and young people can take whilst they attend part-time dance school. Exams are a great way of children and parents keeping track of progress.

J’s Dance Factory IDTA exam awards presentation

In March 2012 J’s Dance Factory will be hosting an awards presentation where the children will be able to collect their medals and certificates. This gives the children a great sense of achievement and slowly introduces them to the world of professional dance teacher qualifications and IDTA teacher training which they can start aged sixteen. If they persevere with their amateur IDTA exams it should cut out the need for them to have to use a dance teacher training company as they will complete their professional dance teacher training with us at J’s Dance Factory.

It is more important than ever for dance teachers to be appropriately qualified. Over half the dance teaching jobs in London advertised online ask for formal dance teacher training, or a professional dance teaching qualification.

If you want to become a dance teacher you need to make sure you have the right skills and qualifications to gain employment and are setting an example to your young students by gaining the right qualifications. Likewise if you want to set up a dance school your school will be more desirable to parents if you are a qualified IDTA teacher and your school offer the students the opportunity to take IDTA exams. IDTA exams also create extra income for you as a dance teacher; so you can increase your earnings.

Happy Birthday J’s Dance Factory – Anything is Possible

Today is my 24th Birthday! Why is that Significant? Well four years ago today my life changed forever because I launched my own dance school. I wanted to enable local children to access quality and affordable street dance classes. At the time it was 13 children in a local church hall and a CD player. Not much but it was mine and that was the best part. I became my own boss. Upon graduating I began to grow the company but I never in my wildest dreams thought by year four I would have achieved so much.

Four years on I am proud to tell you that I am an award winning young entrepreneur with four dance schools, 230 children regularly attending Saturday classes. I’ve been featured in several National newspapers, on television and gained recognition as a leading ‘young entrepreneur’ in London. Two years ago I also launched my second dance company Dancing After School which has enabled me to make it possible for thousands of children across London to access dance within their school environment as well as empowering teachers and school staff to deliver quality dance sessions for their students.

It was a real struggle to run a growing company whilst at university full time. Trying to study, write a dissertation, carry out work placements and keep customers happy. I honestly do not know how I did it at times…in fact I do: sheer determination, a lot of hard work and support from family and a few friends.

The biggest hurdles I had to overcome were:

  • Being young: Some people don’t take you seriously
  • Funding: Lack of cash to set up
  • Lack of business knowledge/experience
  • Lack of confidence

Over the coming weeks I would like to share with you how I overcame these problems to help you on your way in your own dance business ventures.

But for today this post is a true Thank you to everyone who has been involved with J’s Dance Factory over the past four years, a celebration of the thousands of children who continually benefit from the school and a message to you to say that I am living proof that anything is possible! Aim high, dream big and get the right qualifications and help to get you on the right road!

Dance Teaching Qualifications

The use of the internet and social media has made it possible for so many dance companies to sell teaching courses to dancers that they have developed themselves; with no professional body or accreditation attached. Some of these courses use the term ‘government accredited’ ? You need to find out exactly what they mean by this? Due to the vast number of courses out there it makes it difficult for you as a dancer when trying to establish which course to take to benefit you. You want a course that will give you the professional progression and business model you need to develop a dance business or gain employment in education institutions or leisure facilities and demand the wage that you are worth. Your teaching qualification is a huge investment. You need to get the facts about the course before you part with any cash. So I’m here to help!

Your dance teacher qualification needs to give you the knowledge and the status to achieve your dream whether that be working in schools, teaching classes to adults in gyms or setting up a dance school for children. You need to make sure that any money you invest for training can be made back as a result of you having the qualification. Some of these companies base their qualification on a franchise opportunity with the company in question. Yes, buying a franchise dance school is often a fantastic and virtually risk free option but surely you want you want a choice? The qualification also needs to make you money without too much more financial outlay and give you the option to ‘go it alone’ if you wish.

I found it really difficult choosing a dance teacher training course as there was not much advice out there giving overviews on the courses and I simply did not know what to look for. So now knowing what I know I want to help you make informed decisions that will boost your career or business venture.

This video report takes you through the questions you need to ask when booking onto a dance teacher training course.

  1. WHAT-will you learn
  2. WHO- Will you be taught by/who is the qualification accredited by
  3. WHEN-will you be qualified
